§ 01THE PROBLEM

ChatGPT doesn’t know your course.

It’s Week 6. A Linear Algebra problem set is due Friday, there are 400 pages of Philosophy reading on your desk, and your course materials are scattered across half a dozen tabs.

ChatGPT doesn’t know your professor’s version of any of it — so every session, you’re pasting screenshots and re-explaining the course. By finals, you want to actually know this material. Right now, you’re just trying to keep up.

§ 02HOW IT WORKS

Three steps to your own tutor

Three panels — your bookshelf, an active study session, and a mastery tracker with per-skill progress.
  1. STEP01

    Upload anything

Drop in your textbook PDFs. Otto maps every chapter into a structured outline you can work through.

  2. STEP02

    Study Socratically

Ask anything, any time. Your AI professor already knows what’s in your book and cites the exact page when it answers.

  3. STEP03

    Practice relentlessly

Work problems from the section you just read. Every attempt feeds back into your skill map.

§ 03PEDAGOGY

A Socratic tutor, not an answer machine

Most study tools are happy to hand you the worked solution. You scroll, nod, close the tab. On exam night, the same problem still breaks you.

Otto won’t do that. It asks you the next question you should be asking yourself. It works the problem with you — up to the step you actually got stuck on, not past it.

“I can’t remember how I got the answer” is the worst feeling in an exam room. We’re building the tool we wish we’d had.

§ 04FEATURES

What your tutor does

FEATURE01CHAT

Chat grounded in your textbooks

Every answer cites the page and the textbook your course assigned — down to the paragraph the idea came from.

Works for physics problem sets, case law excerpts, history readings, and language textbooks alike. Handles equations, diagrams, and scanned pages.

Chat answer showing a citation callout pointing to a specific textbook page.
FEATURE02MASTERY

A mastery tracker that grows with you

See which concepts you've actually mastered — and which you've been avoiding since Week 3.

Skills are pulled from your textbook, not a generic taxonomy. Your tracker updates every session.

Mastery Tracker view showing skill-by-skill progress across a single course.
FEATURE03PRACTICE

Practice problems from your textbook

Problems from the section you just worked through — no generic problem banks, no unrelated fluff.

Miss a problem? Your skill map updates, and the next session drills it.

Practice Hub mid-attempt with a question, work-in-progress, and a running skill tracker.
§ 05COMPARISON

How we compare to ChatGPT and NotebookLM

Most of us already use ChatGPT or NotebookLM. Here’s what Otto does that they don’t.

  1. ROW01GROUNDING

    We start from your textbook.

ChatGPT and NotebookLM are genuinely great — once you tell them what you’re reading, what course this is, and which edition of the textbook you have. Otto does that setup once. Every session after starts with your textbook already loaded.

  2. ROW02PRACTICE

We turn reading into a loop.

NotebookLM is a great document-chat — you ask a question, you get an answer grounded in your PDF. Otto adds the other half of studying: practice problems from the section you just read, and a mastery tracker that follows what you’ve actually learned.

  3. ROW03PEDAGOGY

    We teach, not just answer.

We walk the problem with you, up to the step you got stuck on. The difference between "closing the tab satisfied" and "passing the exam" lives in that step.

One campus, your whole semester

From organic-chemistry mechanisms to close-reading Dostoevsky, every plan is the whole campus — lectures, practice, skill maps, insights. Plans differ on the compute behind them and how much you take on. Pay yearly and two months are on us.

Auditor is free, two ways. Start with a one-time credit of managed AI — no card, no key — enough to load a textbook and study it across several sessions. When it’s spent, add your own AI key and keep auditing free for as long as you like. One course either way.

Every plan opens with the core faculty; paid tiers bring more professors on board from the start, and you earn the rest through study on any plan.

Change or cancel anytime — it’s self-service, and access runs to the end of the period you paid for. Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record, who manages billing, receipts, and tax.

§ 07FAQ

Common questions

How much does it cost?
Start free, pay only when you outgrow it. Auditor is free, no card — a $3 welcome credit is enough to finish your first course on us, then your own AI key keeps it free for as long as you like. Scholar runs the whole campus around the key you already pay for. Enrolled is fully managed: compute included, nothing to set up. Honors puts the sharpest models on your faculty. The numbers are in the pricing above — pay yearly and two months are on us.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. The free Auditor tier needs no card at all — finish your first course on your $3 welcome credit, then connect your own Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google key and audit free for as long as you like. You only reach for a card when you want a managed paid tier.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes, anytime, and it's all self-service. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel from your account whenever you want. If you cancel, you keep full access until the end of the period you already paid for — no clawbacks, no exit interview.
What happens if I run out of included compute?
Nothing slams shut. Your included compute is pooled across the quarter, so a heavy week of close-reading or problem sets borrows from a quieter one instead of hitting a wall. And on any tier you can connect your own AI key to keep going on your own provider. The point is to keep you studying, not to police a meter.
Will it just give me the answer if I'm in a rush?
No — on purpose. The whole point is that you learn the step you're actually stuck on. If you just want the worked solution, Otto isn't it. Otto is built for the version of you that wants to actually understand the material — not just get through tonight.
How is this different from ChatGPT?
ChatGPT doesn't know your textbook or which edition your course uses. You do that context work yourself, every session. Otto does it once, then remembers.
Does it handle math equations and diagrams?
Yes. There's a math input for equations, you can paste screenshots, and the tutor reads scanned PDFs and diagrams.
What subjects does it support?
If it's in a textbook, we can work with it. Physics, math, chem, and bio on the STEM side — history, law, philosophy, and languages on the humanities side. Test prep too. The product isn't subject-specific.
Is my uploaded textbook private?
Yes. Your materials stay tied to your account and are used only to teach you. Read the privacy policy →
